Thoroughly clean BELOW your lint filter. There will be a few pockets where lint has been pushed down into making it impossible for the filter to sit flush and therefore catch your cloths twist it and probably ruin it. A VERY thin flat vacuum attachment and a bottle brush are the best tools for the job. Once youve cleaned it out the filter should sit flush and you can hopefully stop replacing clothes without needing to purchase a replacement filter.

I have the same issue as everyone else with 1 star reviews. The filter doesnt lay flat or has cracked on the corner resulting in clothes wrapping around it and ripping. Ive replaced numerous filters and same issue. I also sent a message to lgs customer support on instagram and its useless no one replies Lg should recall this product and fix the issue for existing customers.

This filter broke and ruined my clothes. Im so disappointed and now I have to pay for a new filter that will probably do the same thing down the road. You guys need to fix the problem or recall the dryers with this issue. The filter doesnt fully go down something on the bottom is preventing it from fitting properly. So disappointed

It seems if all of us 182 negative comments are having the same problem that the issue isnt us but your product. Like all the others the problem us the filter doesnt sit flush with the filter area. This dryer has ruined so many clothes. I have to dry many items in a garment bag to avoid loosing yet another garment. I am now purchasing another dryer lint filter AGAIN. This is the 3rd or 4th. Why dont you issue a recall and completely revamp with a filter system that works. I cant afford another thousand dollar dryer If I do it wont be an LG.

My filter was worn out Yep I do a lot of laundry I really needed a new filter. When I checked the LG site it was easy to find my model number and place my order. The order arrived in good time and the filter was not bent cracked or damaged in any way. Im happy and my dryer is too

Unfortunately this part was not compatible with my dryer even though the LG website says that it is.
Very disappointed that it did not fit and that I needed to pay shipping to return the item.
I think LG could do better than this.
Getting through to for support was not a good experience.

I was sent the incorrect part. I ordered 401 and was sent 403. I spent two hours on the phone to try to resolve the concern only to be told they expect me to purchase another part. SCREAMS BAIT AND SWITCH Seems very shady to still have this part available IN STOCK but sending another part typing to scam more money out of consumers. Our kitchen suite is LG our TVs and washer/dryer. We have always loved the brand but this experienced has really tarnished my view.

The worst design of a simple lint filter Finally I found the solution
It took a long time to find the right method but all the lint is packed beneath the filter This accumulation makes it impossible for the filter to be properly seated.
I used a flashlight to see what was beneath the filter. I tried using a vacuum attachment but the opening is too narrow. Finally after many attempts of reaching into the narrow opening I used two bottle brushes along with the flashlight to bring up all the packed lint.

The filter warps after use and doesnt fit well in the dryer. This is the 3rd filter weve had to purchase from LG since owning the drier. Ive lost count of how many clothes its stretched or outright destroyed. Really frustrating.

Same issue the lint filter not fitting all the way down clothes tank tops bra straps drawstring from my sweat pants and basketball shorts all getting caught and twisted on the right side of the filter ruining a lot of clothes. Its a flaw with the lint filters on the LG dryer

I have a similar experience as other people. The lint filter is not able to push all the way in. It has damaged so many clothes of ours. I shouldnt have waited this long to leave a comment. I was thinking maybe I could just buy a new filter and solve the problem but it seems that other people are having the same problem and replacing the filter may not be enough

It seems clear from my experience and that of others in this forum that this filter is a travesty.. Sadly LG has apparently refrained from adequately testing appliances that they sell to the public. This is just one such item. it seems that a class action suit to pay for all the clothing ruined by this engineering embarrassment is called for.

The lint trap and housing seem to be ineffective even with a cleaning of the trap area. This is the 3rd replacement for our dryer and it is disappointing. After several cycles the first two lint screens didnt fit flush with the main housing. The edges are warped or broken causing clothes to get snagged and damaging items from clothing to sheets.

The lint filter ADQ56656401 for dryer ADQ566566401 constantly catches the landty from nylon king sheets to lingerie shoulder straps. This has lead to many damages from stretching items out of shape to tearing them appart. One fix tat seemes to help is to keep a shoulder strap that had been torn off the garment to remain twised on thr lint filter taking up the space so another item will not get caught.

I had to replace the filter on my dryer after a corner broke off and started snagging clothes. Glad the right model was easy to track down and replace. It seems very effective - cleaning the dryer vent is still necessary but we dont pull out as much as you would expect. The only flaw in the design is that lint gets trapped under the filter and theres no easy way to get it out. It keeps the filter from sitting exactly flush after it builds up. Once I was able to dig it out with a lot of effort this replacement sits flush now.

Like a lot of folks I have bought this part thinking it was defective and that heat warped the filter. Most of the issue is not due to a defective part but rather to lint buildup that is below the filter screen which prevents the screen from going all the way in or down.
To see if this fix will work just take a flashlight open the flap that the screen goes into and look to see if there is a large lint buildup at the bottom. If there is then this fix will probably work as you only need to remove the lint. But how? Here are three different methods.
Method 1. You may already have a nozzle on your vacuum that will fit down the opening to vacuum out the lint. If not you can always fix up an adapter to connect a narrow pipe like 1/2 PVC to the vacuum nozzle using duct tape.
Method 2. Use a grabbing tool like the NERECND model #HU-XI-82 on Amazon or a Home Depot UltraTech #70399.
Method 3. Use a phillips screwdriver and follow the instructions on one of the YouTube Videos like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4HTNjdJAyg
Since you already do some routine maintenance on the washer by removing lint from the waste basket you should just add this to the list.
Dear LG: Seeing the very large number of folks with this issue I imagine the newer models are re-engineered to prevent the issue. May I suggest that LG make up a crevice tool and adapter to fit most vacuums and mail them to customers at their request and ask them to add it to the routine maintenance? Cost would be extremely minimal and great marketing

I have a brand new dryer. This is the best I can do with the lint filter. It is ruining clothes on every batch. This is embarrassing. This isnt about packed lint. Its about a design flaw. Its like the whole thing is warped. And there is no click when I push down. Can someone help?

Ton of clothes ruined. None of the filters on the OEM ports page list my model. with the fire risk and ruined clothes plus peeling paint on the inside door it was not worth the money. Piece of junk . Feature dont matter if the product runs your cloths. Never had dryer with this many issues in all of my life.

Has LG fixed this issue yet? We have had countless problems with the filter snagging clothing ripping off straps and twisting clothes beyond recognition. In our case the filter and housing have now snapped off in the corner creating a rough edge that further ruins clothing. Before I order new parts on a relatively new dryer I want to be sure that the replacements wont have the same issue.

The edge of the filter became distorted and catching anything from tank top straps to the edges of bed linens. Ive come to the dryer to find 75 of the linens are wrapped up together and not dry as a result. Ive spent lots of time unraveling clothes to just get it off the filter.
