Due to manufacturing defect and lack of communication for proper customer maintenance - I finally discovered why my filter was catching clothing articles and ruining them

Hey there The problem is built-up lint. Its a simple fix that involves removing six screws and emptying the dirt and lint trapped at the bottom of the filter. Try this out and let us know how it goes you can private message us on social media LGUSSupport
So it took awhile to remove the filter holder cage and clean it out from several inches of lint that prevented the filter from seating properly. Yes just 6 screws but it took careful cleaning and dexterity to put the parts back in place. I wish they had posted this about 3 filter replacements ago and several favorite items of clothing ruined.

I have bought 3 new lint filters because just as others have notes it does not sit flush so clothes get caught twisted and often destroyed. How hard can it be to design the right filter for the right model?? Soon to be in the market for new unit and will not buy LG again unless this happens to be a common defect across brands.

Again the same issue with this lint filter. It wont seat properly on the right side and so it snags clothing. Today it ripped a new mens button down shirt in two places pocket and ruined it. We have replaced this filter two times already..Same issue every time. Fix the product or start supplying the replacements free of charge. Ridiculous

I have the same problem with this part. A clothing item gets caught on the corner of the filter. As the dryer continues to run the item continues to get all wrapped in a huge knot sometimes catching another item as well. The wrinkles caused by this will not come out. You need to redesign this part

Iv had this machine for 31/2 years and the lint trap is unacceptable. It hooks onto a peice of clothing spins it tightly during the cycle and ruins that garment. Ive lost 6 shirts so far. I have replaced it once and it only lasted few months. I now have to buy another one. I spoke to customer service and they said a manager will cal me back which never happened. They dont care and they will never recall it. The consumer has to suffer with it. Its not acceptable that we have to buy another machine so our clothes dont get ruined. LG- PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG PRODUCT AGAIN.

I have had this dryer for about 3 years and the lint filter is horrible. It has destroyed so many clothes and my bras get hooked on and then ripped. I also ordered replacements and within months they have gotten broken and now I need another filter. Very terrible design. I will not recommend buying the dryer again just for that reason.

This link trap is terrible.
I have had this dryer for 3 years now and over the last 3 months my clothing is getting destroyed.
first they get hooked on the edge of the trap and twist and twist that at the end of the cycle 2 - 3 pieces have to be thrown out.
LG you should be considered replacing my dryer and reimbursed me for all of the clothing that were thrown out.

Although I ordered the part recommended for my machine it is not a correct size and I am not able to put it in the dryer. Now I need to find a repair person to fix it. And maybe pay for another part. Sigh.

The original had a thicker felt strip and the top of the filter only had embossed looking holes/ports. The new one has actual holes at the top to let air through. Not sure if thats better or worse but it still gets filtered by the screen before leaving the machine. Works fine.
